Drinking alcohol affects body in many ways. The effects can
lead to physical and mental changes that can put drinkers at risk of injury or
death. When a person drinks, the alcohol is quickly absorbed in the blood and
then carried throughout the body. A drink of alcohol stays in the body for
around 2 hours after being consumed; the period of time can vary depending on
the person’s weight, gender and other factors. Alcohol makes drinker feel
sleepy or confused.
Brain Damage
Binge drinking causes blackouts, memory loss and anxiety.
Long term drinking can cause permanent brain damage, serious mental health
problems and alcoholism. Young people’s brain is still developing during
teenage years. Alcohol can damage parts of the brain and affect oneself ability
to learn and remember as well as behavior.

Drinking alcohol is a risk factor that causes cancer. It can
be especially harmful to the liver, the organ that metabolizes alcohol and
other substances. Heavy drinkers may develop diseases such as liver
inflammation (alcoholic hepatitis) or severe liver scarring (cirrhosis). The
diseases related to alcohol can cause death.
Alcohol affects the heart in good and bad way. According to
the studies, it shown that moderate drinking can lower the chances of
developing heart disease. Two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for
women. However, long term alcohol users can result in high blood pressure, it
will increase the risk of developing heart disease. The blood pressure can go
back to normal within few months when a person stop drinking if there is not
much damage to the heart. Excessive alcohol consumption can also lead to kidney
failure.
Skin
Alcohol dehydrates your body including the skin, the largest
organ of your body. It happens every time you drink. Excessive drinking is thought
to dispose the skin of vital vitamins and nutrients. Moreover, heavy drinkers
can have more permanent effects on the skin. One of the effect is Rosacea, many
people with rosacea have a history of frequent blushing or flushing. This
facial redness may come and go, and is often the earliest sign of the disorder.

Beer Belly
When you drink beer, your liver has to go into overdrive to
detoxify the alcohol. Beer consists average 150 calories that’s why beer makes
you fat. Men after the age of 35 will easily get beer belly because the
metabolism rate is getting slower in this age. Women fat stores normally go on
their backside and hips.

Smells
Long term alcohol users don’t smell good. Although the liver
processes most of the alcohol you drink but some leaves the body through
breath, sweat and urine.
